Abbotsford Police Remove 11 Trucks in Safety Enforcement Blitz

Abbotsford police removed 11 commercial trucks from service after finding more than 100 safety violations during a targeted enforcement blitz last week. The operation, a joint effort between the Abbotsford Police Department’s traffic unit and the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement team, uncovered 104 total violations across the inspected vehicles.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety in the British Columbia city. “These large-scale operations play a critical role in promoting road safety and ensuring commercial vehicles meet regulatory standards,” police said in a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Officers conducted comprehensive inspections, including verification of vehicle weights using mobile scales. The operation reflects growing concerns about commercial vehicle compliance throughout the region.

“Road safety remains a top priority for AbbyPD,” the statement continued. “Our officers will continue proactive enforcement efforts across the city to help keep our roads safe for everyone.”

Commercial vehicle enforcement has become increasingly important as truck traffic continues to grow in the Lower Mainland. Similar operations in neighboring municipalities have also revealed significant compliance issues in recent months.

The police department hasn’t yet released details about the specific violations discovered or when the next enforcement blitz might occur. However, authorities have indicated that such inspections will continue as part of their regular safety initiatives.

Truck operators in the area are being advised to ensure their vehicles meet all regulatory standards to avoid fines and potential removal from service during future enforcement actions.
