“Tornado Tosses Trucks on Kansas I-70, Captured in Dramatic Video”

Powerful tornado flings tractor trailers off Kansas highway as motorists watch in horror. The twister crossed Interstate 70 near Grinnell and Grainfield on Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction captured in dramatic footage.

Video from the scene shows commercial vehicles being violently lifted and tossed by the tornado’s powerful winds. The storm’s raw power was on full display as it moved across the major transportation artery.

“Unreal footage of commercial vehicles being thrown from I-70 at Grainfield, Kansas,” wrote meteorologist Kody Wilson on social media, sharing video submitted by witness Jennifer Mravich.

The aftermath presented a surreal contrast. Overturned vehicles and debris were backdropped by sunlight breaking through clouds and a vivid rainbow, nature’s peaceful counterpoint to the destruction.

Local officials have not yet released information about injuries or the total number of vehicles affected. The tornado struck during daylight hours, potentially giving motorists some warning to seek shelter.

Interstate 70 serves as a critical east-west corridor through Kansas. Disruptions could impact commercial traffic and travel across the region until cleanup operations are completed.

Kansas lies within “Tornado Alley,” an area of the central United States particularly prone to tornadic activity. May typically marks the height of tornado season in the region.

Authorities urge drivers who encounter tornado warnings to exit their vehicles and seek substantial shelter when possible. If no buildings are accessible, lying in a ditch away from vehicles is recommended as a last resort.

Emergency management teams continue to assess the damage along the affected stretch of highway. Weather services are monitoring conditions for any additional storm development in the area.
