Truck Driver Impaled on Rebar at Oklahoma I-35 Construction Site

Truck Driver Found Impaled on Rebar Under I-35 Bridge in Oklahoma

A semi truck driver was hospitalized Monday after being found impaled on rebar at a construction site beneath Interstate 35 in Oklahoma. The grim discovery was made by a construction worker around 4 p.m. at a work site under the northbound lanes near the 2nd Street exit.

The driver had experienced a troubling series of events earlier that same day. According to local news outlet KOCO, the trucker had been pulled over by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper during a routine stop.

During that interaction, the driver reportedly forgot to set his parking brake. This oversight caused his semi to roll forward, striking the trooper’s patrol car.

Authorities then impounded the tractor-trailer and had it towed from the scene. The driver subsequently left the area on foot.

Hours later, emergency services received a 911 call from the construction worker who found the driver impaled on rebar. Edmond Fire Department responders arrived quickly, cutting the metal rods to free the injured man.

The driver was rushed into surgery upon arrival at the hospital. His identity has not been released to the public, and officials have not provided updates on his current condition.

Investigators have not determined whether the driver fell accidentally from the interstate above or if he jumped. The circumstances surrounding how he ended up at the construction site remain unclear.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has not issued additional statements regarding the incident. Local authorities continue to investigate the unusual sequence of events that led to the driver’s injuries.
